Two Dead after Fatal Crash on Broadway

Everett Chief of Police Steven A. Mazzie announced late last week that two individuals have been pronounced deceased following a traffic crash in Everett on Broadway by Dunster Road.

At 8:39 a.m. on Weds., Jan. 3,, Everett Police officers, along with Everett Fire Department and Cataldo Ambulance Service responded to the scene for a report of a serious traffic collision. The crash involved a pickup truck and a City of Everett trash truck. Two passengers in the pickup track, a male and female, were transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the City of Everett trash truck was transported with non-life threatening, but serious, injuries.

The Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction team responded to the scene.

This accident remains an open and active investigation by the Everett Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction team and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Witnesses indicated that for an unknown reason, the driver of the truck accelerated at a high rate of speed near the Shute Library and proceeded up Broadway until veering into the City trash truck.

The impact was so great that the bed of the truck separated from the cab of the truck.

Identities of the accident victims are withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
