City Holds Successful International Night

The Everett Adult Learning Center (EALC) held its Annual International Night on Wednesday,

June 18th.  Every year, students in the English as a Second Language classes celebrate their participation in the ESL program. The students bring food from their culture to share with others. Certificates of Participation were given to students who successfully completed their classes. Special awards were also awarded that night. This year, four students received United States Citizenship.

“Every year the Everett Adult Learning Center invites the community to join together to celebrate the diversity of Everett through sounds, tastes, and cultural traditions,” states Mayor DeMaria, “Attendees share dishes and enjoy music that reflect their family heritage. It is a great night to celebrate all of the diversity that makes Everett such a special community.”

At the event, Representative Wayne Matewsky presented the four new citizens with  certificates honoring their American Citizenship, and the EALC awarded Perfect Attendance Certificates to eight students. Also in attendace in support of the program were Superintendent Fred Foresteire and Assistant Superintendent Charles Obremski.
