Barbara Hofhaug

Clerical Worker Who Enjoyed Life to the Fullest, retired at age 80

Barbara G. (MacDonald) Hofhaug died early Sunday morning, March 23, in her Gloucester home. She was 92 years old.

She was born in Everett on May 11, 1921. Her husband, Rolf, was also born in Everett, where they met. They married in 1951 and shared 32 years of marriage raising three children, Robert, Richard, and Diane, before Rolf died of heart failure in 1983 at the age of 66.

Barbara loved to work. She was an office worker, performing clerical work at many companies in different industries over the years, with the most recognizable being Firestone, Town & Country Jewelers in Chelsea, and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She finally retired when she was 80 years old.

Barbara often said she was born at the best time ever, when things were simpler and people really knew how to have fun. She fully enjoyed her life and knew how to fill it with the things she enjoyed. She loved to dance, travel, crochet and play Bingo. She was an open, happy and friendly woman. She was a generous friend who always had many friends around her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was much-loved and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her brother, Martin; her son, Robert and his children,  Melody and her husband, Timothy Schneider and their children, Timothy, Benjamin, and Danielle, son Brendan, daughter Katie and son Adam; by her son, Richard and his daughter, Kylie; and by her daughter, Diane.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rolf, her sister, Irma and her husband, Chandler Tuells; her sister, Mary MacDonald, and her brother, Laughlin MacDonald, Jr and his wife, Rose.

Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Service, 212 Washington St, Gloucester, on Thursday, March 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. A short funeral service will follow to be officiated by Steve Mullen. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Elizabeth Kalogeros

Lifelong Everett Resident

Elizabeth P. (Bowers) Kalogeros, a lifelong Everett resident, passed away on March 19 at the Annemark Nursing & Rehab Center in Revere. She was 94 years old.

She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Flora Bowers; beloved wife of the late Arthur Kalogeros; loving mother of Robert P. McDonough and his wife, Julie of Everett; loving sister of the late Warren Bowers; cherished grandmother of John, Thomas, and Patricia and is also survived by six cherished great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were by the JF Ward Funeral Home, Everett. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Memorial  donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the charity of your choice.

Erminia Donadio

Of Everett

Erminia (Valente) Donadio of Everett died on March 16.

The beloved wife of the late Domenico Donadio, she was the dear and devoted mother of Rocco Donadio and his wife, Maria of Florida, Anna Montanile and her husband, Biagio of Everett,  Teresa Venditti and her husband, Paul of Pepperell, Renzo Donadio and his wife, Mary of Dedham, Rita Rimmer and her husband, Scott of Florida, Maria Joseph and her late husband, Richard of Florida, Grace Fleming and her husband, Robert of Hyde Park, Renato Donadio of Florida and the late Robert Donadio and his surviving wife, Eileen of Westford; sister of the late Rosario Valente and Carmela Eccher and is also survived by 21 loving grandchildren and 21 loving great-grandchildren.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett.  Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Contributions in Erminia’s memory to The Leonard Florence Center for Living, 165 Captain’s Row, Chelsea, MA 02150 would be sincerely appreciated.
