Patricia Nuzzo

Her Family Was Her Greatest Joy

Patricia F. (Cray) Nuzzo of Everett passed away at the Mass. General Hospital on April 19. She was 73 years old.

Born in Malden on August 14,1939, she was the daughter of the late George and Isabelle (Holden) Cray and lived at Pine Banks where her father was the superintendent. She graduated from the Cheverus School, Class of 1957.

Patricia’s greatest joy and accomplishment in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, arts and crafts and camping.

The beloved wife of Nicholas A. Nuzzo with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, she was the loving mother of Nicholas A., Jr. of Everett, Steven of Georgetown and Laura and her husband, David of Newburyport; cherished grandmother of Deanna, Steven, Spencer, Erin and Madeline and is also survived by her step-mother, Gertrude Cray.

Her Funeral will be held today, Wednesday, from the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home, 519 Broadway, Everett followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Gerald Osterman officiating. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Cemetery.

Irene Hickey

Retired Everett School Teacher, A Very Religious Person Who Always Put Others First

Irene C. Hickey of Everett passed away at the home of her cousin Frank Dullea and his wife, Shirley on April 17. She was 80 years old.

Irene was born on April 6, 1933 in Cambridge, one of three children of the late John P. and Henrietta (Delay) Hickey. She attended Everett Public Schools, graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1951 and from State Teachers’ College Boston in 1955. She received her Master’s Degree in Education in 1959. Ms. Hickey taught school in Everett at the Hale, Adams and Webster Schools for more than 40 years until retiring in 1996.

After retiring from the Everett Public Schools, she worked for Fr. McDonough at the Mission Church in Boston on the prayer line. Besides being active in her community of Everett, Irene was a devoted and active member of Immaculate Conception Parish.  Irene was a deeply religious person who always put others first. She was a past Regent of Court Everett # 324 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, member of the Ladies Sodality and Massachusetts Citizens for Life.

She was the sister of the late John and Helen Hickey and is survived by her dear cousin, Frank Dullea and his wife, Shirley of Everett who took wonderful care of her in her final illness. She is also survived by many other loving cousins.

Her Funeral was held from the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home, Everett. A Funeral Mass was celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Gerald Osterman officiating. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Gerald DeCarlo

Of Medford, formerly of Everett

Gerald J. DeCarlo of Medford, formerly of Everett, died unexpectedly at Whidden Memorial Hospital, Everett on April 18. He was 59 years old.

A processor at General Electric in Lynn for over 38 years and a member of Union Local 201, IUE/CWA., he was born in Everett and was a long time Medford resident.

He was the beloved husband more than 28 years of Cheryl A. (Cefalo); son of the late Carmen and Maria (Giannetta) DeCarlo; dear and devoted father of Janelle L. DeCarlo of Medford, Jeffrey J. DeCarlo of Chicago and Ronald J. DeCarlo of Medford; loving brother of Geraldine Lynch of Burlington and Carmen A. DeCarlo and his wife, Sheryl of Wakefield.

His funeral will be held from the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, 65 Clark St. (Corner of Main Street) Everett, today, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.  followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church, 38 Oakes St., Everett at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Henry ‘Billy’ Keating, Jr.

Of Charlestown

Henry W. “Billy” Keating, Jr. of Charlestown died on April 14.

A US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was the father of Billy of Brighton and Maureen of Winthrop; son of the late Henry William, Sr. and Lillian (Campbell); brother of James “Buddy” of Andover, Mary Jo, Tommy and Donny, all of Charlestown and Patricia Machado of Everett and is also survived by one granddaughter, Rachel Farley and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Peter Simonelli

AVCO Retiree, Formerly Served on Everett Common Council and Board of Alderman

Peter V. Simonelli of Everett died on April 17

at Genesis of Wakefield Nursing Center. He was 82 years old.

Born in Boston, he was retired from AVCO Research as a Junior Engineer and also received his teacher’s certificate.

Peter was a former member of Everett City government serving in the Common Council and later the Board of Alderman for many years. A charter member of the E Club of Everett, member of the Knights of Columbus, Everett and served as president of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Holy Name Society.

The beloved husband of Frances (Harrington) for over 61 years, he was the dear and devoted father of Peter V. Simonelli, Jr. and Stephen Simonelli of Everett, Ann Hogan and her husband, James of Malden and Patricia Bryant and her late husband, Joseph of Revere; brother of the late Louis Simonelli and his surviving wife, Dorothy Simonelli of Everett; loving grandfather of Jennifer Davidson, April Faris, Stephen Simonelli, Jr., Heather Bryant, Elizabeth Bryant, Victoria Simonelli and Shane Simonelli and also leaves three loving great-grandchildren.

Ralph “Cappy” Capodilupo

Of New Hampshire, formerly of Everett

Ralph “Cappy” Capodilupo of Hudson, NH, formerly of Everett, died on April 16.

He was the beloved husband of Dianne (Mangone); loving father of Ronald and his wife, Susan of Beverly, Robert of Peabody, Teresa Papa and her husband, Louis of Peabody, Ralph of Salem, Richard of Beverly and Matthew and his wife, Lisa of Billerica; beloved son of the late John and Mary Capodilupo and loving brother of Virginia Lombardi, Rita Messina, Ann Piasecki and the late Phyllis DeVito, John and Robert Capodilupo. He is also survived by eight loving grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Marie Jeffrey

Former Chelsea City Councilor

Marie (Troisi) Jeffrey, a lifelong Chelsea resident and former Chelsea City Councilor, passed away after a brief and rapid illness surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Chelsea, the beloved daughter of Helen Troisi of Chelsea and the late Constantino “Babe” Troisi, she attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School and graduated from Chelsea High School, Class of 1963.

Marie was involved in many community activities.  She was honored to be elected to the City Council and was a founding member and organizer of the SOS Neighborhood Crime watch.  A professional hairdresser, she most recently worked as a transportation agent for Massport / Logan Airport  She was also a member of Teamsters local 25.

She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Jon Jeffrey in 1980 and six years ago by her husband, Dominick J. Pulisciano.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by her devoted son, Brian Jeffrey of Derry, NH. She was the dear sister of Diane Troisi, Stanley Troisi and his wife, Donna all of Chelsea, Andrew Troisi and his wife, Mary Pat of Everett; cherished grandmother of Grant Tame, Cahlee and Cory Jeffrey and the adored great grandmother of six. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Frances ‘Frankie’ Fritz

Of Peabody, formerly of Everett

Frances “Frankie” (McDonough) Fritz of Peabody, formerly of Everett, died on April 12.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest Sr., mother of Ernest Jr. of Peabody and Michael and his wife, Lek of Everett; sister of Alice and Sally and was predeceased by eight other siblings.   She is also survived by three grandchildren: Laurie, Daran and Nicholas and three great grandchildren: Jaime, Jay and Hannah.

John Chronowski

Retired UPS Manager

John Chronowski of Everett died on April 10.

John was a member of the Riverside Yacht Club, Medford and a retired Manager for UPS. An avid gardener, he was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was the loving father of Anne Sullivan and John Chronowski, both of Everett, Linda Cali and her husband, Rick of Somerville and the late Doris Heshion; brother of the late Walter and Frank Chronowski, Stella Laurendeau and Sophie Petrosky and is also survived by seven loving grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved dog, J.C.

17 Year Dig Safe Employee and Longtime Scout Leader

Yvonne B. (Trahan) Pettengill of Everett passed away at her home unexpectedly on April 16. She was 67 years old.

An employee of Dig Safe for 17 years, she was a life member of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, in addition to being a longtime Scout Leader.

She was the beloved wife of the late James G. Pettengill, Jr.; the loving daughter of the late Effie and Bill Trahan; loving mother of Keith J. Pettengill and his wife, Jeanie of Tewksbury and Michelle L. Pettengill and her fiancé, Greg Vonusa of Virginia; loving sister of Paul Trahan and his wife, Evelyn of Winthrop, Richard Trahan of Braintree, and Donald Trahan and his wife, Anne of Maryland and cherished grandmother of Lauren and Lyndsey Pettengill. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Longtime Former Employee of the Copley Plaza Hotel

Ruth M. (Janson) Jones of Everett, passed away at Everett Rehab & Nursing Center on April 18.  She was 83 years old.

A former longtime employee at the Copley Plaza Hotel and an avid Red Sox fan, she was the beloved wife of Oscar D. Jones, loving sister of Helen Long of Wisconsin; loving sister in law of Lillian and Ted Juzwiski of Melrose, Carol Jones of Chelsea, and the late Mary Ellen and Shirley Jones.
