On February 21 Mayor Carlo DeMaria was pleased to share his 40th birthday with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Middlesex County (BGCMC) who also turned 40!  Mayor DeMaria generously offered the BGCMC the opportunity to host a combined event to increase community awareness of the organization, with all the proceeds benefitting the Everett Boys and Girls Club.

With the help and support of Mrs. Stacy DeMaria, the BGCMC was able to coordinate a wonderful event celebrating both Mayor DeMaria and the Boys & Girls Club organization.  Over three hundred friends and family members attended the evening at Anthony’s to celebrate the occasion.  In addition to a delicious dinner, party-goers also enjoyed exciting raffles, auctions, and the comedic styles of David Russo.  Congressman Ed Markey, State Senator Sal DiDomenico, and Mayor Joseph Curtatone, of Somerville, also attended, celebrating with Mayor DeMaria and showing their support for The Boys & Girls Club organization.

“I was more than excited to celebrate my birthday with the Boys & Girls Club,” states Mayor DeMaria, “It was an opportunity for myself and others to learn more about the history and current activities of our Everett Club, while helping raise essential dollars for this important community youth organization.”

Lindsay Smythe, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County, was thrilled to announce that the joint birthday bash helped raise over $12,000!

“Everyone here at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County is thrilled at the turnout of the Everett community and beyond for our joint 40th birthday party with the Mayor,” states Smythe, “With 300 in attendance, the event exceeded all of our expectations. It was a very special night of celebrating the amazing things that can happen when a community like Everett and a Mayor like Mayor DeMaria understand the value of and support the Boys & Girls Club! Thank you Mayor, and thank you Everett!”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County is a non-profit organization with clubs located in Medford, Cambridge, Somerville and Everett.  Their mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as caring, productive and responsible citizens.
