Beacham Street Needs Repair

Once again, we refer to our editorial last week urging the mayor to get Beacham Street paved as it is a public safety hazard of the first order.

The deplorable condition of Beacham Street is an embarrassment to this city and to city hall.

But the embarrassment is not the mayor’s. It is the Common Council’s and the Aldermen who have refused repeated efforts by the mayor to appropriate the money necessary to fix the roadway which is absolutely out of control with pot-holes and ruts capable of taking down the tires and suspensions of 18 wheel trucks carrying Methane and LNG.

The mayor shouldn’t need to beg to have Beacham Street repaved or at the least major parts of it being overhauled.

Beacham Street is an accident waiting to happen that this city can’t afford.
