City to Hold Public Hearing for Block Grant Revision

The Mayor’s Office of Community Development will hold a public hearing this coming Monday, March 12th, 2012 in the Speaker George Keverian Room – Everett City Hall, 484 Broadway to discus proposed reprogramming of the fiscal year 2010 Community Development Block Grant (CDGB) funds from infrastructure to housing rehabilitation.  The FY – 2010 infrastructure and street repair project was completed under budget resulting in a $78,000 surplus.

The City is planning to request a program revision from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Housing and Community Development to reuse these funds for eligible housing rehabilitation activities within the target area of East Everett.  The city is hoping to help eligible homeowners the assistance necessary for major repairs and renovations to homes.  Upon acceptance from the Department of Housing and Community Development, the city will set guidelines for interested applicants.

The Public Hearing will allow residents, organizations and business owners to offer suggestions for the reuse of these funds, or support the city’s plans for reuse of these funds. Suggestions can be made at the hearing or before the hearing in writing to the Office of Community Development 484 Broadway Everett, MA  02149.
