Cheryl A. (Stilwell) Peach of Reading, formerly of Everett, died on June 17. She was 54 years old.

A longtime cafeteria manager for the Reading School Department and a member of Camp Hedding Association in Epping, NH, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jean (Cushing) Stilwell and the late William A. Stilwell, Sr.; devoted wife of John W. Peach III; loving sister of William Stilwell, Jr., Deborah Scotti, David Stilwell and Steven M. Stilwell; cherished godmother of Nicholas Scotti, Kristen Ritche, and Jamie Albertian. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Bryan Smith

Worked for US Air

Bryan E. Smith of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Everett, died unexpectedly on June 13.

A 20-year employee of US Air, he was the devoted husband of Renee (Papale), the beloved father of Sydney and Morgan Smith; cherished son of Marie and Angelo Ferraro of Everett; loving brother of Kevin Smith, his wife Amy and their children Zach and Meghan of Southbury, CT, Sandra Santos, her husband Ed and their daughter Emma of Everett. He is also lovingly survived by his mother-in-law Helen Papale and brother-in-law Brian Papale, both of Pittsburgh, PA.

Funeral arrangements were by the Carroll Funeral Home, Malden. Burial was at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Eugene Kennedy Jr.

Of Marshfield, formerly of Everett

Eugene C. Kennedy, Jr. of Marshfield, formerly of Everett, was joined in heaven on April 22, 2011 with his beloved wife, Elaine Kennedy, his father and mother, Eugene and Alberta Kennedy, and his son, Brad Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy served in the US Army during the Korean War and also served in the Army National Guard. He was a service manager in the automobile industry.

He was the dear father of Deborah (Debbie) of St. Croix, VI, Charles (Chuck) and his wife, Laurie, of Ann Arbor, MI., Jeffrey and his wife, Tonya, of North Carolina, Eugene III and Joanna Leahy of Marshfield; loving brother of Carolyn Lassiter of Melrose, Susan Kennedy of Arizona, Christine Kennedy of North Carolina, John Kennedy of San Diego and the late Frank and Kim Kennedy. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial visiting hours at the MacDonald Funeral Home, l755 Ocean St., Rte. 139, Marshfield will be held on Sunday, June 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. Prayer service will be at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be on Monday, June 27 at 11:15 a.m. at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Anthony ‘Peeno’ DeMasse

Retired machinist for Mantin Gaulon Company, Everett

Anthony “Peeno” DeMasse of Malden died on June 13 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was 89 years old.

Born in Manchester, NH and a longtime Malden resident, he was a machinist by profession and for more than 20 years he worked for Manton Gaulin Company in Everett. A long standing member of AA, on numerous occasions, he was the opening speaker.

He was the devoted husband of Rosalie (Messina); beloved father of Paula C. O’Brien and her husband, Daniel, of Marshfield, Anthony M. DeMasse, Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of Reading and the late Helene M. Dami; father-in-law of Peter Dami of Florida; brother of Joseph Piasecki and Joan Collins, both of Chelsea, and is also lovingly survived by nine grandchildren and one great grandson.

John ‘Hickory’ Arcari

John A. “Hickory” Arcari of Everett died on June 12.

A US Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Acari was a Record American (currently Boston Herald) Pressman for 27 years.

He was the beloved husband of Frances (Ruotolo); father of Joni Hamel and her husband, John, of Haverhill, John A. Arcari Jr. and his wife, Laurie, of Tewksbury and Janice Ciulla and her husband, Tom, of West Peabody. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Stephen, Danielle, Ashley, Johnny, Anthony, Francesca, Tommy, Genaro and Bella.

George Terry DiRusso

Of California, formerly of Everett

George Terry DiRusso of Oceanside, California died surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer on May 7. He was 70 years old.

Born January 18, 1941 in Somerville to the late Maria T. DiNitto and Salvatore DiRusso, he was a graduate of Somerville High. He served in the US Navy from 1959 through 1965. In 1967, he married Mary Montalbano and they moved to Everett for the next 40 years where they raised their family. He was a welder for over 40 years at General Electric in Lynn.

He was the loving father of Tracey Burke and her husband, Jason M. Burke, of Melrose and Teri-Ann Gaudreau and her husband, Michael Gaudreau, of Everett; much loved Papa of Katherine Burke and Joshua Burke of Melrose; former husband of 43 years of Mary Montalbano DiRusso of Everett; brother of Philip (Mimi) DiRusso and his wife, Ruth, of Florida, Adrienne DiGirolamo and her husband, Angelo, of California, Mario (Sonny) DiRusso of California and Lillian Christlieb and her husband, Wayne, of Georgia. He was the brother of the late Paul and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Member of ITAMS and Teamsters Union

Joseph A. DeMartino of Everett died on June 17.

He was a member of the ITAMS of Malden, the Teamster’s Union, Local 25 and a US Army veteran of World War II.

He was the beloved husband of the late Martha J. (Luciano); dear and devoted father of Joseph A. Jr. and his wife, Louise, of Saugus and Carolyn Sanford and her husband, David, of Billerica; brother of Achilles DeMartino of Roslindale, Margaret “Dolly” Faletra of Chelsea and the late Armando, Silvio and Robert DeMartino and Rose Magno; loving grandfather of Erin Deleidi, Joseph A. III, Michael and James DeMartino and great-grandfather of three great-granddaughters. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Nicholas J. Meleones of Charlotte, NC, formerly of S. Weymouth, died on June 11. He was 87 years old.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he was the devoted husband of 57 years of Pearl (Marzakis) Meleones; loving father of James Meleones and his wife, Eva, of Charlotte, NC and Peter Meleones and his wife, Tara, of Long Beach, MS; loving grandfather of Nicholas, Allison and Erin; brother of Denna Magos of Newton, Jennie Zevitas of Arlington and Rita Zervos of Everett and the late Thomas and Jeanette.

The past Chancellor of Bellingham Lodge Knights of Pythias and a longtime member of the Dokkies, he was the devoted husband of Joyce (Fox); beloved father of Neil and Robyn Malatzky, Larry and Jodie Malatzky and Ellen and Peter Horn; cherished grandfather of Matthew, Kristopher, Jamie, Jessica, Alyssa, Shane and Hannah and dear brother of the late Ina Altman.

Former owner of Ben Marek Paint Company

Ben I. Marek of Everett died at the Chelsea Soldiers Home on June 12. He was 83 years old.

Mr. Marek was a World War II Merchant Marine veteran, the former owner of Ben Marek Paint Co. and a member of the VFW and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Malden.

He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn M. (Male) Marek; loving father of Carol Fee of Malden, Ben Marek, Jr. of Billerica, and the late Diane L. Marek; loving brother of Frank Marek and Margaret Janik of Texas; cherished grandfather of Kim Baker of No. Reading and Christian Fee of South Carolina and cherished great grandfather of Payton Conway-Baker, Nolan Baker, and Ava Baker.

Frances M. (Bourque) DeLeo of Everett died on June 12. She was 82 years old.

Mrs. DeLeo was a retired surgical registered nurse. She was an avid bowler and golfer.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. DeLeo; loving sister of Lillian M. Surrette, Pauline M. Bourque, Yvonne R. Moffat, Paul E. and Richard J. Bourque. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Ricci Jr. of Woburn; loving grandma of Stephanie, Lauren and Benjamin Strainge, John R. III, William and Matthew Ricci; sister of Lorraine Golden of Everett, George DeLoreto of Framingham, Albert DeLoreto of Georgia, Joseph DeLoreto of South Carolina and Richard DeLoreto of Methuen.

Past President of St. Anthony’s Holy Name Society and Revere Youth Baseball Coach

Lawrence “Larry” Bowden of Revere died on June 17. He was 48 years old

He was Past President and a member of St. Anthony’s Holy Name Society, Coach of the A’s for Revere Youth Baseball and a Substitute Teacher.

He was the beloved husband of Cathy (DiGregorio) Bowden; devoted father of Patrick, Matthew and Zachary Bowden; loving son of Elva Bowden and the late William; dear brother of Peter and his wife, Donna, of Revere, Barbara Bowden of Everett and William F. of Texas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

 

Visiting hours are Thursday, June 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons –Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere on Friday at a time to be announced followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church.
