The city’s School Department is facing a fiscal crisis this year unlike any other in many years past.
Without added funding this year, the city’s school budget will barely take care of current business let alone moving forward into new territory.
Fixed costs being what they are, and funding cuts taking a toll on programs and advancements, is a doubleheader bound to cause the School Department budget a near disaster.
Only added state reimbursements and perhaps the use of Federal Stimulus funds by the governor can save the day.
Without the injection of funds, layoffs are going to occur and they will have a real effect on the coming year.
