Mangan tops primary vote; Simonelli comes in second

Mike Mangan and Stephen Simonelli will go head to head in the November 3 finale for the Ward 2 Alderman spot following Tuesday’s primary.

Eliminated in the voting was Dennis DiBiase who came in third.

Mangan scored a good vote, with only 11% of the voters in the ward coming out.

Mangan got 1007 votes according to the official tally released by the city clerk’s office Tuesday night.

Simonelli scored 648 votes and DiBiase got 435.

Mangan showed strength throughout the sprawling ward, represented for many years by Jason Marcus, who declined to run this year.

In fact, Mangan beat Simonelli in nearly every ward and precinct except for 6-2 and 6-3.
